Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Boots Besides taking over a week and a half to get it mail order from Cali to Hawaii, the boots are great. I love Hi-Tec boots and this particular model isn't available locally. There was a model similar to it but when I wore it (I'm 10.5) at Sports Authority, felt tight. so I ordered these a half size up and I was spot-on on the size. You need to order these boots a half size bigger than your feet! Especially if you wear thick hiking socks like I do. Tried them on, walked around a little and it felt real good and comfy. The design is great, waterproof is a plus, and the outsoles are super. I love what I ordered!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just replaced a pair I had for 10 years. Hi-Tec has been making this same shoe for ages. Old pair was purchased in or around 2005. Wore holes in the soles and was getting wet socks during rain events. I was surprised to see these were still production. The uppers on the old ones are still in perfect shape except for a small cut which was not a manufacturing defect. Hope the new pair holds up as well as the retired pair did.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Comfort? Yes. Waterproof? Not even a little. I've been wearing these boots pretty regularly for about two months. The comfort level is quite high; especially right out of the box, there was really no break in period. The materials seem strong, I've seen no wear to speak of. The laces are not good. Or at least they are not good for this boot. They shred where they contact the upper hook very quickly. My biggest complaint, and the reason I am on this web-site, is the waterproofing. I went hunting down an old road. This road was not overgrown and there was very little grass. It was raining. It took less than an hour for my feet to be COMPLETELY soaked. Now, I wasn't expecting to have dry feet after walking through a creek, or trudging through knee high grass all day, but I've had old tennis shoes with better waterproofing than this. Very disappointing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best footwear I have ever owned let me say I'm on my feet a lot during the day and I walk & climb a lot of miles each week. I also have bad feet that hurt (medical reasons). this is a FYI, I found these Hiking Boots, Hi-Tech Banderas. straight out of the box they have been the most comfortable I have had the pleasure of wearing. and they have held up EXTREMELY well for the rough service I put them through ( I install appliances for a major DYI box store ). just bought my second pair.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good Boots, Poor Laces I've had these boots for about seven months now. They had very limited use this past summer because I live at the beach, but I have worn them more since the weather changed. Still they are not worn regularly. The boots are comfortable and seem to be holding up well. The boots still appear to be nearly new, but I have to replace the laces already. Anyone tried to buy laces that look anything like the originals lately? Why doesn't Hi-Tec sell the laces, or did I miss them on the site?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Tuff enough for work I bought these boots for working, i'm a xmas three Producer and when it's time for trimming i need a light weight, waterproof boots. I think i found what i need. After 3 week, these boots give me a great return on my investment.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good shoe for the price Bought these on sale and have worn them for walking shoes. Probably not the best choice for serious hiking - light ankle support. The factory insoles were pretty thin so I replaced them with ones that have more cushion which made a big difference in comfort. I have wide fee, ordered the wide size 8 & 1/2 and these fit better than most wide shoes I buy.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good Boot, Not for rough Gravel though! These boots are comfortable and have a short break in period. I work on a gravel lot about 4 acres in size. after about 5.5 months the soles break down and crack in the heal area. The soles are hollow and are separated by compartments kind of like a square honey comb. After the soles crack they get rocks stuck up inside the compartments of the sole. It takes needle nose pliers to get them out. Shortly there after the insoles break down and you feel the compartments on the sole of your foot. They become unwearable. 6 months wear at most . A gravel surface I think is the worst to have to work on, uneven and unforgiving. Would be nice if they filled these compartments in the sole with a soft cushioning material like foam rubber or something similar. I have had three pair of these boots each end up the same. I have given up on them and am still searching for boots that hold up to a Gravel surface.

How do the sizes run on these shoes?  I wear size 18 shoes, but if they run big, a 17 might do.

Asked by: Dave43
The Bandera Mid runs true to size. We would recommend going with the size you normally wear.

I am about to buy Hi-Tec Bandera II Mid Hiking Boot from Sierra Trading. Is the sole rigid; i.e., does it NOT bend at the tip?

Asked by: jrcsb
The Bandera Mid WP does have a rigid sole. It has a steel shank in the midsole which helps with support and stability. It also has a cupsole, which is a solid piece of rubber, versus a mix of EVA and rubber.

Define waterproof. I bought a pair of these for a 10 mile hike in Dartmoor, in conditions for waterproofs. The ground was soaking after weeks of spring rains. And so were my feet after 3 miles. Water did not enter over collar. Defective? Overmatched?

Asked by: Limping in Dartmoor
The waterproof membrane keeps water out unless it goes over area where the sides of the tongue are no longer attached to the boot itself. This is approximately at the 4th eyelid. If you feel like the boots may be defective, our customer service team will be happy to help you. They can be reached at 1 800 521 1698.
